Ansel Adams-American fine art photographer, conservationist and lecturer. As a young boy , Ansel had appreciation for the arts and the natural world. His early education was marred by his appearance,(broken nose) suffered during the great 1906 San Francisco earthquake which caused him to be defensive. He was often pulled by his parents from school subsequently had to be home schooled. At the age of 12 he was musically inclined learning to play the piano by himself. Oftentimes, Ansel enjoyed solitary moments in the woods connecting with the natures beauty

In 1919, Ansel joined the Sierra Club and with his new Kodak camera given by his parents it forever changed the course his life' s work . At this time , he was still a concert pianist by profession but gradually over time photography become his clear destiny On one of his photography expedition to the America’s southwest, he meet with Paul Strand and his images influences Ansel to see photography different than what was popular at that time which was picturalism (soft focus style)

Finally, Ansel Adams was a champion for conservation and for his effort he was awarded Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Carter and wilderness Area named in his honor..
